This desi recipe of Daal Manpasand is finger-licking good! Serve it with crispy papad and zesty achaari to double the taste.
Ingredients:
- Split red gram ¼ cup
- Split red lentil ¼ cup
- Split red lentil ¼ cup
- Split Bengal gram ¼ cup
- Split yellow gram ¼ cup
- Split green gram ¼ cup
- Black lentil ¼ cup
- Turmeric ½ tsp
- Cumin roasted and crushed ½ tsp
- Chopped tomatoes 3
- Chili powder 2 tsp
- Coriander powder 1 ½ tsp
- All spice powder ½ tsp
- Coriander leaves 4 tbsp
- Cream 3 tbsp
- Water 1-1 ½ Cup
- Asafetida ¼ tsp
Ingredients for Tempering:
- Clarified butter ½ cup
- Sliced garlic 2 tbsp
- Chopped green chilies 4
- Curry leaves handful
- Chopped onion ½ cup
Method:
- Wash all the daals together and soak for 30 minutes.
- Boil the daal along with turmeric, cumin, chopped tomatoes and cook till daal is completely soft.
- Slightly mash it using a masher and add chili powder, coriander powder, all spice powder, coriander leaves, cream and cook it until it’s well combined.
- For tempering, heat clarified butter and add rest of the tempering ingredients until garlic smells fragrant.
- Add this to the daal and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Garnish it with julienne cut ginger and green chilies.
