Ingredients:

  • Rice 1 cup
  • Yellow split gram ¼ cup
  • Green split gram ¼ cup
  • Tikka chunks ½ packet
  • Water 4 cups
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Tomato chopped 1
  • Onion chopped ½ cup
  • Green chilies chopped 2
  • Turmeric ½ tsp

Ingredients to temper:

  • Oil ¼ cup
  • Clarified butter 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves 10
  • Garlic finely chopped 1 tbsp
  • Green chili chopped 2
  • Kashmir red chili 2
  • Asafoetida pinch
  • Coriander leaves ½ cup

Method:
In a pressure cooker put rice, both the daals, 3 cups water, salt, tomato, onion, green chilies chopped, turmeric, pressure cook on high heat for 5 mins, then low heat for 10 mins
Method for baghar
Heat oil and ghee, add whole cumin, curry leaves, crushed garlic, green chilies chopped, Kashmiri red chilies broken, chopped onion, pinch of heing, fry till golden, sprinkle lots of coriander on the khichdi and pour the baghaar on top immediately and mix, cook for a min and serve hot.

Ingredients:

  • Boneless beef ½ kg
  • Split Bengal gram boil 250 gm
  • Oil ½ cup
  • Clarified butter 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Onion fried, sliced 2
  • Ginger garlic paste 2 tbsp
  • Tomatoes blended 2
  • Coriander powder 1 ½ tsp
  • Turmeric ¼ tsp
  • Salt 1-½ tsp
  • Whole green chilies 6
  • Lemon juice 2-3 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves 2-3 tbsp

Ingredients to temper:

  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Clarified butter 2 tbsp
  • Freshly chopped garlic 1 tbsp
  • Onion chopped 1
  • Chili powder 1 tbsp

Method:
Soak chana daal for 1 hour, boil till done but not mushy. Heat oil and ghee in a pan, put cumin seeds, thinly sliced onion, fry till light golden, add boneless beef cubes with ginger garlic paste, cook for 5 mins, add blended tomatoes, then add coriander powder, turmeric, salt, cover and cook till beef nearly tender, then add 1 cup water, cover, cook on medium flame, when water dries, add boiled daal to the beef mixture with half cup water, cover, leave it for 10 mins, then add whole green chilies, lemon juice, cook for 2 mins. Lastly give baghar. Method for baghar: Heat oil and ghee, fry onion light golden, add freshly chopped garlic, let it get golden, put in it red chili powder, quickly mix, add to the daal mixture, top with coriander leaves.

Ingredients:

  • Pigeon peas 3 tbsp
  • Split Bengal gram 3 tbsp
  • Red lentil 3 tbsp
  • White lentil 3 tbsp
  • Yellow split gram 3 tbsp
  • Water 4 cups
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Turmeric 1 ½ tsp
  • Asafoetida ¼ tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Bay leaf broken 1
  • Green chilies 3
  • Cloves 2
  • Black cardamom 1
  • Star anise 1
  • Green cardamom 2
  • Onion 2 sliced
  • tomatoes blended 3
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Chili powder 1-½ tsp
  • Coriander powder 1-½ tsp
  • Green chilies 3
  • Coriander chopped 2 tbsp

Method:
Soak all the daals for 1 hour, boil all the daals together in pressure cooker with ½ tsp turmeric and 1 tsp salt for 15 mins, once the daal is tender keep aside. Heat a pan add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and heing, add bay leaf, black cardamom, green cardamom, anistar, cloves and green chilies, then add ginger garlic paste, cook for 1 min, add sliced onion, and fry till light golden, once done add the tomatoes and all the dry spices with ½ cup water, cook for 5 mins, add the cooked daal, simmer for 10 mins, remove garnished with coriander leaves, serve with tomato, onion, cucumber, raita and chapatti.
