Who doesn’t love to eat rice? Rice recipes are loved by people no matter where you go. There are so many different rice recipes used by people around the world, each of it is unique in its own way and has a traditional touch to it based on the culture followed in that particular area.
Rice is a staple cuisine in the sub-continent. There are a million different dishes which could be made with rice. And there are many more dishes which could be made with the rice grains, like rice flour. In a country like Pakistan, in many households the meal isn’t complete without rice. Cooking rice is must for either lunch or dinner. The most common type of rice are the white rice recipes which could be eaten with almost everything. In desi households, plain rice could be eaten with friend potato, any type of curry, or even Achar/pickle. This variety of options available makes rice even more loved by people around.
One of the most common Pakistani dish is Dal Chawal, it basically consists of White plain rice and Red lentils. This white rice recipe consists of many sidelines like salads, Raita and pickle. The type of dishes you can make with rice can be both vegetarian and nonveg. While there are numerous easy rice recipes for dinner available, there are also some fancy dishes available which can be served to the guests. The first one obviously is chicken biryani, no big event, weddings or celebration can be complete without a plate of biryani with some raita and salad.
Other than this very basic dish you can make other less known fancy dishes like chicken teriyaki fried rice, all you need to do is marinate the chicken pieces in teriyaki sauce for an hour, then fry it with carrots, broccoli, onions, add 3-4 eggs in it and fry it all together, then finally add boiled and half cooked rice in it and do your preferred seasoning and your dish will be ready to serve.
One of the favorite rice recipe which came all the way from China to make home in Pakistan is fried rice recipe. This fried rice recipe is unusually served in Chinese restaurants here with other main courses like Manchurian, Singaporean Chili Chicken or Shashlik. However now that fried rice recipes are loved by Pakistanis, they have been molded in variety of ways. They are made at home with a number of sidelines like salads, fresh fruits, dumplings, egg rolls or main chicken dishes.
It is also said that rice could actually be unhealthy since it has a lot of carbs in it, but it can be converted into a healthy dish depending on the way you cook it. Garlic butter rice is a great example of how rice could be a healthy option. Another very easy and famous healthy option is making rice in a microwave oven. All you have to do is add water and soya sauce in the rice, let them boil in the microwave, then take some eggs and let them cook in the microwave, mix the two, add some frozen vegetables and voila your dish will be ready to eat.
