Ingredients
- dried shredded coconut 120 gm
- coconut milk 1 cup
- green cardamom powder 1 tsp
- cinnamon a pinch
- lemon zest 1 tbsp
- jaggery powdered 1/3 cup
- salt a pinch
Method
If using dried shredded coconut, pulse in a blender to make small coarse sized shreds. Dry toast the coconut until golden. Stir occasionally to avoid burning. Add coconut milk and cardamom powder, cook for 2 minutes. Add jaggery and salt, increase heat to medium and cook for 15 to 20 mins, or until the mixture completely absorbs the liquid and does not leak any moisture when squeezed or pressed. Cool to room temperature, then shape into balls.
Ingredients
- Pigeon pea 250 gm
- Garlic 6 cloves
- Green chili 1
- Cumin seeds ½ tsp
- Saffron few strands
- Milk as required
- Red chili powder ¼ tsp
- All spice powder ½ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Yogurt 125gm
- Cream 250 ml
- Milk ½ cup
- Coal 1 piece
- Clarified butter 1 tbsp
- Oil as required
- Mint leaves for garnish
Method:
Boil the lentil till mushy. Blend well till you get a smooth consistency. Whisk curd and mix cream and milk. Place a foil piece in a pan. Place a live coal on this. Pour a teaspoon of ghee on it. Cover immediately and after five minutes remove the coal with a pair of tongs. Add the cream mixture. Add the mashed lentil. Add the green chili, red chili, salt and all spice powder. Cook for 8-10 minutes. Temper it with chopped garlic and cumin seeds. Garnish with mint leaves.
